Dental Crowns and Bridges

When teeth become lost or severely damaged, it is very important to receive a high-quality restoration. A dental restoration, like a crown or a bridge, will restore the look and function of the person’s smile. At Envision a Smile, we are proud to provide top-quality restorations for our patients. We also utilize specialized technology to offer restorations in a faster and more effective manner than other dental care facilities. By choosing Envision a Smile, a patient will receive a strong, high-quality restoration, all in a timely manner.

A crown is used to restore and protect a single damaged tooth or to replace a lost tooth. Crowns can also be used as part of dental bridges to provide support. A dental bridge is used for the purpose of replacing multiple missing teeth in a row. Both types of restorations are custom-made so that they fit in seamlessly with the patient’s existing teeth and provide the best possible function. We construct our crowns and bridges from porcelain, a material that is highly regarded in the dental community for its natural look and overall great performance.

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped structure that is placed at the site of a missing tooth. If the crown is replacing a lost tooth, it will be secured to a surgically placed dental implant. If the crown is restoring a damaged tooth, it will cap the existing structure and provide strength. Most patients who receive crowns find that they function just as well as healthy, untreated teeth. Additionally, a tooth treated with a crown will appear natural.

We offer two types of dental crowns at Envision a Smile. The first is traditional multiple-visit dental crowns. To receive this type of crown, a patient will have impressions taken of their teeth. These impressions will then be sent off to a dental laboratory so that a custom crown can be constructed. The patient will return for a follow-up visit when the crown is ready to have the restoration fitted and secured.

Envision a Smile also offers same-day CEREC crowns. This type of crown allows patients to receive a customized dental restoration in just one visit. The process starts by taking digital photographs of the patient’s teeth. These digital photographs are then uploaded to a computer, and computer-aided design (CAD) technology is used to create a digital model of a customized restoration. The model is then transferred to a CEREC milling machine so that the crown can be built. Once it is ready, it can be immediately applied.

A dental bridge is applied when a patient is missing multiple teeth in a row. This type of restoration consists of one or more replacement teeth that are between two dental crowns on the ends. The crowns on the ends will provide support for the structure, while the teeth in the middle will “bridge” the gap created by the missing teeth.

If you are suffering from lost or damaged teeth, it is very important for you to receive a restoration you can count on. The team at Envision a Smile can provide you with a top-quality crown or bridge to suit your needs. Please call us at 630-454-8166 to schedule an appointment.
